North Mille Lacs Ice Fishing provides access to fishing along the sand breaks and the closest access on the lake to the Mudflats.  The sand breaks start at only 1,500 feet off shore and the closest mudflats are 3/4 mile from the access.

To provide the best experience for the seasonal members at The Red Door Resort and Barnacles Resort and the NMLIF season pass holders, additional wheelhouse traffic is restricted on the weekends.  Weekend wheelhouse spots are by reservation only.  Reservations are not required for daily traffic or for weekday wheelhouse traffic.

For wheelhouse traffic, the plow driver meets you on the ice, escorts you to your desired fishing location and plows you a custom wheelhouse spot for the duration of your stay.

NMLIF Ice Roads

Operating out of The Red Door Resort Access, North Mille Lacs Ice Fishing is the only ice operation on the north end of Mille Lacs Lake in Central Minnesota.  NMLIF plows and maintains miles of wide ice roads along the sand breaks and provides the closest access to the mudflats.

While ice conditions ultimately dictate the road system, the ice highways are planned to cover the sand breaks between The Red Door Resort and Barnacles Resort, providing anglers access to Mudflats Bar & Grill.  The ice roads will also provide access to the following mudflats: Weimer, Bomback, East, Barnacles, Resort and Pantry.  If conditions are excellent for road creation or if an angler is fishing via snowmobile or tracked side by side, anglers should be able to also reach Matton, Fishhouse, Eileen's, Fletcher, Bitcher, Backer, Phil's, Purity and 8-Mile mudflats.
